Brickfest PDX - a Virtual Experience

Brickfest PDX is coming up this week in Portland, Oregon. They announced the event in January, and by that time, a flight to Oregon from Virginia was already in the $400 range. I couldn't justify the trip with such little notice, and wouldn't have been able to fly with any mosaics anyhow. Bummer. But- I was able to participate virtually! Read on...

Brickfest PDX is coming up this week in Portland, Oregon. Last year's Brickfest in Tyson's Corner, Va. was a huge success for Brickworkz and a ton of fun. (that article is online here)

For the Brickfest event, LEGO fan Bob Kojima replicated Vincent Van Gogh's "Cafe Terrace at Night" into a 6 x 5 foot LEGO mosaic and provided directions for attendees to build one of 20 plates to comprise the overall mosaic. Click to see what Bob has planned! Since I won't be able to make it to the event this year, I asked Bob if he would consider mailing me the parts and directions and I would build it here in Virginia, then mail him the completed plate.

It took a few hours to assemble the plate. I had a lot of fun putting together the brilliant colors in my plate. I mailed the completed plate to Bob in time for Brickfest and was able to participate "virtually." Bob agreed to hand out Brickworkz business cards at the event as well. Wasn't that nice? Thanks Bob!

Play well,

Brian Korte

Hey, Brian!!

Missed you at PDX!!! The completed mosaic truly came as a surprise. I was "misled" into believing it was "A Starry Night" by way of being assigned the panel just above yours, panel #3. Once again, the final product was amazing.

I just registered for Brickworld. Hope to see you there!!!
