Brickworkz LEGO mosaics : Clientz : Baby Klause Baby KlauseGetting Started
I had a photo saved for years not knowing what I would finally do with it. And then, when I received a shipment of 750 bricks in red, yellow and blue, I knew that a color mosaic was perfect for the photo. The design has been approved and we are underway! Today's progress includes the first plate of four, ready to go. The overall mosaic looks cooler with every brick I put on. Posted by Brian Korte on March 25, 2006 Permalink | Comments (0) Halfway there
Here's an update after today's work on the yawning baby project. He's starting to look like a kid now! I had some company over today and at first glance, no one saw what it was. When I took the model back a few feet away, it became obvious. We'll see how it looks when the thing is finished. I've been really impressed with the colors coming off as realistic skin tones. In this shot you can clearly see that this is indeed a baby, and more than that- he's yawning. Or crying. I used to think that Rob got a shot of his son crying, but every time I glance at the model of my design, I instincively start to yawn. Yawning's not the reaction people have when they see this though. It's really coming together! Also, here in the shot is the top of my laptop- you can get an idea of the scale of this piece. I've now finished everything for this piece except for the red blocks. I ran out of reds about halfway through the project- I had only ordered 750 of them, so I thought this might happen. I put a new order in (this one from Germany) and will hopefully get that soon. So, this project will stay on my tabletop until I get the reds in and can finish things up. Looks cool though, doesn't it? You can see what a difference having the red blocks makes. Posted by Brian Korte on March 25, 2006 Permalink | Comments (2) All Done!
I took this photo once the LEGO mosaic was framed and hung at the C3 gallery.
