LEGO Mosaic: "Cash"
Click for larger version.
This piece was created specifically for a financial institution. I used dollars from every popular U.S. denomination (and even some less-popular denominations like the $2 bill) to create the layout. I first got the idea when I made a withdrawal. The teller fanned out the bills as they were handed to me.
I quickly changed the withdrawal to include "the cleanest, crispest bills of every denomination you have." I got a strange look, but the teller assured me that it wasn't the strangest thing he's ever heard from an artist wanting to do something creative with his money.
...Makes me curious what other requests he's heard!
I got home, fanned out the cash and took a bunch of photos until I liked the layout and the lighting. The design came quickly, and I had the mosaic built within the week.
