When a group of AFOLs (Adult Fans of LEGO) invited us to design a Disney themed Lego mosaic, I thought about my favorite Disney character, Steamboat Willie.
Willie has always been compelling for me, because he symbolically personifies the beginning of a creative dynasty. When Walt Disney designed Mortimer Mouse, he started a company that grew beyond even his imagination. Steamboat Willie is a history-making familiar character, the first animated short to be animated to music and sound effects.
This Lego mosaic was on display in Anaheim, California near Disneyland, and is heading to Disney World for display soon as well.
