Brickworkz on the First Fridays Artwalk tomorrow!
The First Fridays Artwalk is a cultural event showcasing Richmond Virginia's thriving arts community. I was asked by Renovation Resources to display some Brickworkz art for tomorrow's big event! If you've never been, it's basically a sidewalk party where the wine flows but instead of bar hopping, people gallery-hop. It's a lot of fun! Check the Brickworkz blog for details on location/time and the mosaics on display!
Good LORD that is huge!
The current Brickworkz project is for Dapper, a US company based in Tel-Aviv, Israel. They called Brickworkz because they wanted an attention-getter for an April conference in San Francisco. A LEGO mosaic is what they had in mind, and this one really takes the cake! This jaw-dropping mosaic has 49,000+ studs to fill, uses more than a dozen colors and is 6.5 ft long by 5 ft high! The project is days away from completion and will be shipped to California before reaching its final destination in Israel. Watch the daily build updates online at http://www.brickworkz.com/dapper
Many Thanks to the HelperZ
The Dapper project has certainly been an ordeal, but I had help! Dapper designer Itai Rabinowitz and my Brickworkz helpers came to the rescue, by laying out a brilliant design and helping me assemble the mosaic. Many thanks go to Karen, Chris, Olivia, Jeff, Chris R, Nick, Corbin, Leslie, Steve, Meghan, Ken and of course, birthday-boy Paul Costa, who turns 30 today. ;-) Photos of the craziest build ever are online too, so don't miss out!
Big News on the Horizon
Coming up in late June is Brickworld- Brickworkz is proud to sponsor this huge Chicago LEGO event. During the long weekend, I will have mosaics on display and look forward to showing the general public what Brickworkz is all about. I have been asked to conduct a seminar-style class on mosaic building for the attendees too, which sounds like fun. More on that soon!
That's it for this edition- I have to get back to building! Have a happy Easter, everyone... And play well!
Brian :-)

Smile and say "LEGO!"
The Junior First Lego League (JFLL) introduces children (6-9 years old) to the concepts of teamwork through the familiarity and fun of LEGO building. I was approached a few weeks ago by Richmond's JFLL to be a guest speaker and had a blast! I had a wonderful time interacting with the kids and proving that you can do anything in life that you can imagine. Read about the fun in the Brickworkz blog.
Virtual Brickfest
Brickfest PDX was held this past weekend in Portland, Oregon. LEGO fan Bob Kojima replicated Vincent Van Gogh's "Cafe Terrace at Night" into a 6 x 5 foot LEGO mosaic. Check out how Brickworkz was virtually represented in Oregon and see the whole mosaic online at the Brickworkz blog!
